'கம்யூட்டா'வில் மொத்தம் பத்து சிறுகதைகள். அவற்றில் மூன்று ஏற்கனவே அமெரிக்க அறிபுனை இதழாசிரியர்களுக்குப் பகிரப்பட்டு, நல்ல விமர்சனங்கள் பெற்றுவிட்டது.

'கூடை மனிதன்' சிறுகதைக்கு L.Ron Hubbardல் (2024 லேயே) Honorable Mention கிடைத்தது.
'மடக்கை' சிறுகதைக்கு TCL இதழிலும்,
'பரிச்சயமற்ற மாறிலி' சிறுகதைக்கு Orion's Belt இதழிலும் நல்ல விமர்சனங்கள் கிடைத்தன. (அவற்றை, வாசகர்கள் கவனத்துக்கென, கம்ப்யூட்டா நூலின் கடைசிப் பக்கங்களில் இணைத்திருக்கிறேன்).
சிறுகதைகளை நாம் என்னவாக வேண்டுமானாலும் அடையாளப்படுத்தலாம். அதனை, துறை சார்ந்த நபர்களும், இலக்கிய பரிச்சயம் கொண்டவர்களும் வழிமொழிய வேண்டுமே? அதற்குத்தான்.
இனி வரும் காலங்களில், எஞ்சிய சிறுகதைகளையும் ஆங்கிலத்தில் மொழிபெயர்க்க திட்டம் உள்ளது. பணிகளை மெதுவாகத்தான் மேற்கொள்ள முடியும். ஏனெனில், எழுத்து பகுதி நேரம் தான் அல்லவா?.
இந்தச் சிறுகதைகளை எழுதி நாளாகிறது. எழுதிய காலகட்டத்தில், இணையத்தில் சிறுகதைகளைப் பகிர்வதால் சில ஏமாற்றங்களைச் சந்தித்திருந்ததால், வெகுவாக மனமுடைந்து போயிருந்தேன். அந்த சமயத்தில் எழுதப்பட்ட காரணத்தால் இச்சிறுகதைகளுக்கு என் மடிக்கணிணியை விட்டு வெளியே வர வாய்ப்பமையவில்லை. தவிரவும், 2024 இறுதிக்குள் இத்தொகுப்போ, மொழிபெயர்ப்புப் பணிகளோ நிறைவாகவில்லை என்பதுவும் ஒரு காரணம். இடைப்பட்ட 2025ன் முற்பகுதியை, மொழிபெயர்ப்புகளை ஆங்கில ஊடகங்களுக்கு அனுப்பி அங்கிருந்து என்ன பதில் வருகிறது என்று பார்க்க பயன்படுத்திக்கொண்டேன். ஊடகங்களிலிடமிருந்து நேர்மறையான விமர்சனங்கள் வரத்துவங்கியிருப்பதில் மகிழ்ச்சியே.
இத்தொகுப்பை வெளிக்கொணர உதவும் படைப்பு பதிப்பகத்தாருக்கு எனது நன்றிகள்.
'Computa' has ten stories - three of them have already gotten good reviews from various American science fiction magazines.
For example,
'Koodai Manithan(The Bucket Man)' received an Honorable Mention in L.Ron Hubbard last year,
'Madakkai(The Rhythm Log Residency)' from TCL magazine and
'Parichayamatra Maarili(Unknown Variable)' from Orion's Belt Magazine. I have attached them at the trailing end of the book.
You may ask why? Anybody can claim anything; all that matters is what the subject matter experts say about the work. I plan to translate the remaining stories one by one and get them all acknowledged by SMEs, but it will be a slow process, as writing isn't my full-time job.
This book should have been released to readers last year. I was somewhat disheartened by the plagiarism targeting freely shared original works online—no wonder these works were shelved and didn't reach readers for over a year. Neither the collection nor the translations were ready by the end of 2024, which was another reason. I literally tried to utilize the first half of 2025 to share the translated works with sci-fi magazines and see what they have to say about them. I am glad I have been receiving positive feedback.
